MASON COUNTY, W.VA. — December 2, 2025 — Emergency crews rescued a tractor-trailer driver early Monday morning after the cab of his vehicle came to rest hanging over the side of a bridge on U.S. 35. Public incident data released by WEST VIRGINIA 511 showed a crash and roadway disruption near the intersection of Sixteen Mile Creek Road shortly before sunrise, matching the timing and location reported by local media.

According to coverage from WOWK 13 News, the tractor-trailer lost control and struck a concrete barrier, leaving the cab suspended above the drop. Their report also noted that the trailer was hauling bricks and stated that the load may have kept the tractor-trailer from going over entirely. WV MetroNews and the WCHS Network similarly reported that first responders reached the cab and removed the driver safely.

We reviewed available first-hand public information from WEST VIRGINIA 511, which confirmed the timing and location of the incident. At the time of publication, we could not locate additional first-hand releases or formal statements from state or county agencies that confirm the detailed rescue techniques described in the media accounts or verify that the trailer’s load directly prevented a fall. This report reflects only what we could confirm through first-hand public data and clearly attributed secondary accounts.
