The Washington women’s basketball team defeated San José State 80–54 on Monday night at Alaska Airlines Arena, according to official game statistics from the schools and league. The win moves Washington to 8–0 on the season, while San José State falls to 0–6.

Washington pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Spartans 26–11 to build a lead it would not relinquish. The Huskies shot a season-high 40.9% from three-point range and dominated the boards, out-rebounding San José State 49–28 with 22 offensive rebounds that led to 30 second-chance points.

Guard Sayvia Sellers led all scorers with 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including five three-pointers, while adding six rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. Her 29-point night came as the Huskies’ top offensive output.

Forward Avery Howell added 17 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Freshman Brynn McGaughy contributed 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, led the team with eight rebounds, and added four blocks. Washington recorded 13 assists on the night.

For the Spartans, no player reached 20 points. San José State struggled from the floor and from behind the arc, and was unable to overcome Washington’s physical dominance and efficient shooting.

With this result, Washington remains unbeaten this season and San José State continues searching for a first win. The Huskies next face a road test at USC, scheduled for December 7.
