BUCKHANNON, WV — December 3, 2025

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a nationwide recall for approximately 201,000 Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stoves, citing a verified risk of explosions and fires connected to the product. The recall is identified under reference number 26-120 and applies specifically to model BG2247A1, which was sold by Walmart stores nationwide and through Walmart’s online platform.

According to the CPSC, regulators received 26 reports of these stoves exploding or igniting during use. Among those incidents, 16 resulted in injuries, including confirmed cases of second-degree burns. The federal agency’s announcement states that the hazard stems from a failure in the stove’s internal structure, which can cause the unit to rupture or combust under normal operating conditions.

The recalled stoves are described as dark green, featuring the orange Ozark Trail logo and a butane fuel design intended for outdoor or portable heating use. Consumers can identify the affected model by checking the gray label inside the fuel compartment, where the model number BG2247A1 is printed.

The CPSC reports that these stoves were sold between March 2023 and October 2025, priced between $8 and $45, and were imported and distributed by Walmart. The manufacturer is listed as China Window Industry Co., Ltd., headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan.

Federal regulators instruct all owners to stop using the recalled stoves immediately. Consumers are eligible for a full refund, available at any Walmart retail location regardless of purchase method or proof of purchase. The CPSC emphasizes that the stoves should not be used under any circumstances due to the verified explosion and burn risks.

The recall applies only to the specific model listed in the recall notice. No other Ozark Trail camping stove models are included at this time, according to the CPSC.
