BUCKHANNON, WV — December 7, 2025
Cold evening temperatures and a festive community atmosphere filled Buckhannon on Friday Evening, as residents gathered for the annual Buckhannon Christmas Parade. At 5:53 p.m., the temperature was confirmed at 35°F, with police units staged near Wendy’s as traffic control began ahead of the procession. The parade kicked off along Madison Street, where we were stationed throughout the evening to observe the event in real time.

Emergency services were strongly represented at 6:22 p.m., with the Upshur Shriners and St. Joseph’s passing through together. At 6:24 p.m., the Almost Heaven BBQ Bash float appeared, featuring participants in pig costumes and bringing one of the most visually memorable moments of the night.

At 6:25 p.m., Alcon, a local trucking company, made their appearance, immediately followed by Shriver Trucking Company at the same time. At 6:26 p.m., the Fred Eberle Technical Center, Upshur County EMS, and the Buckhannon Fire Department all came through in rapid sequence, representing local education, emergency medical services, and fire protection.
Fire units from Washington District, Adrian, and Warren District followed between 6:27 p.m. and 6:28 p.m., adding to the strong first-responder presence in this year’s parade.

At 6:29 p.m., the Upshur County Special Olympics float proceeded through the route, accompanied at the same time by Jackson’s Mill, reinforcing the parade’s theme of community engagement and regional pride.
The parade concluded at 6:30 p.m. when Buckhannon Fire Department Truck 11, carrying Santa Claus, made its way down Madison Street as the final unit of the evening, marking the end of the 2025 Buckhannon Christmas Parade.

This report is based entirely on first-hand on-site observations conducted from our position along Madison Street beside Wendy’s as the parade progressed in real time.
More Photos from the parade can be seen below; it was a wonderful event for us to provide coverage of, and we hope that everyone who was a part of it, and were in attendance, enjoyed it as much as we here at Appalachian Post did.
May you all have a very Merry Christmas season and Holiday!
