United States; December 24th, 2025

Federal regulators issued a nationwide recall this week involving a dietary supplement after testing identified elevated levels of lead that exceed acceptable safety thresholds.

According to an official notice released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Handelnine Global Limited, doing business as Navafresh, is voluntarily recalling Rheumacare Capsules, a product manufactured by Virgo UAP Pharma Pvt. Ltd., due to elevated lead content.

The FDA stated that laboratory analysis found lead levels in the product that pose a potential health risk. Lead exposure can cause serious adverse health effects, particularly with repeated or prolonged use. The agency noted that young children, pregnant individuals, and those with compromised health may be especially vulnerable to lead toxicity.

Rheumacare Capsules are marketed as a dietary supplement. Under federal law, dietary supplements are required to meet safety standards, including limits on heavy metals such as lead. The FDA emphasized that products exceeding those limits may result in neurological, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and developmental effects depending on the level and duration of exposure.

At the time the recall notice was issued, the FDA reported no confirmed illnesses directly linked to consumption of the recalled capsules. The recall was initiated as a precautionary measure following testing results.

Consumers who have purchased Rheumacare Capsules were advised not to consume the product and to discontinue use immediately. The FDA stated that Handelnine Global Limited is coordinating with distributors and retailers to remove the affected product from commerce and to manage returns or refunds.

The FDA continues to monitor dietary supplement safety through routine sampling, inspections, and consumer reporting. The agency reiterated that elevated heavy metal contamination remains a known concern in certain supplement categories, and that enforcement actions are taken when products fail to meet federal safety standards.

The recall remains ongoing as the company and regulators complete the removal of affected products from the market.
