Washington, D.C.; December 26th, 2025
Consumers Supply Distributing, LLC has issued a voluntary recall of specific Country Vet brand dog biscuits after routine testing indicated the possible presence of Salmonella, according to an official recall notice issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The FDA stated that the recall affects certain lots of Country Vet Biscuits for Dogs that were distributed nationally. The products were sold through various retail outlets and may have been available to consumers in multiple states. The recall was initiated after the potential contamination was identified, and no illnesses associated with the product had been confirmed at the time of the agency’s announcement.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly individuals, and others with weakened immune systems. The FDA noted that healthy individuals exposed to Salmonella may experience symptoms including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, Salmonella infection can result in more severe illness if the bacteria enter the bloodstream.
The agency also emphasized that pets exposed to contaminated food can become ill and may transmit Salmonella to humans through handling or environmental contact. Dogs infected with Salmonella may show symptoms such as lethargy, diarrhea, fever, or vomiting, though some animals may carry the bacteria without showing visible signs of illness.
Consumers who have purchased the affected Country Vet dog biscuits were advised by the FDA not to feed the product to pets and to dispose of it in a secure manner that prevents access by animals, wildlife, or children. Surfaces and hands that may have come into contact with the recalled product should be thoroughly washed and sanitized to reduce the risk of exposure.
The FDA stated that Consumers Supply Distributing, LLC is cooperating fully with the recall process and has taken steps to remove the affected products from distribution channels. The agency continues to monitor the situation and has advised retailers and consumers to remain attentive to recall notices involving pet food products.
Pet owners with questions regarding the recall were encouraged to contact the company directly or consult a veterinarian if their pet shows signs of illness. The FDA reaffirmed that food safety, including the safety of pet food products, remains a priority and that recalls are issued as a precautionary measure when potential health risks are identified.
