WASHINGTON, D.C. — December 2, 2025
THE U.S. SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE announced on Monday that it will hold a vote on December 8 regarding the renomination of Jared Isaacman to serve as Administrator of NASA. The committee confirmed the upcoming vote in an official notice released earlier in the day. Isaacman had previously withdrawn his nomination in June following public controversy surrounding his initial selection.
According to the Senate’s public docket, the White House resubmitted Isaacman’s name for consideration in November. In the interim, Sean Duffy has continued to serve as acting NASA Administrator following his appointment earlier this year.
The upcoming committee action takes place as NASA continues to adjust to major staffing and budget changes. Earlier this year, thousands of agency employees accepted voluntary separation incentives under a federal workforce reduction initiative. Public filings show that the agency has experienced ongoing program adjustments and resource shifts as a result.
Under Senate procedure, a committee vote is required before any nominee can advance to a full Senate confirmation vote. If Isaacman is approved on December 8, his nomination will move to the Senate floor for final consideration. The same committee session is scheduled to address additional federal nominations unrelated to NASA leadership.
