Washington, D.C.; December 26th, 2025

The United States Department of Justice has stated that federal investigators have identified more than 1,000,000 additional documents potentially related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, a discovery that substantially expands the known volume of federal records connected to the case.

According to the Department of Justice, the newly identified material was uncovered through continued review efforts involving the Southern District of New York and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Department stated that the documents were located during an ongoing process of searching, cataloging, and reviewing records held across federal systems.

The Justice Department said the documents are now in federal custody and are undergoing review to determine what may be released publicly under applicable law. Officials emphasized that the size of the document collection requires extensive processing, including legally required redactions intended to protect victims and comply with privacy and court-ordered restrictions.

In its statement, the Department noted that attorneys and staff are working around the clock to review the material, but cautioned that the scale of the discovery means public release may take additional time. The Department indicated that the process could take several weeks due to the volume of records involved and the complexity of required legal review.

The announcement comes as part of the Justice Department’s broader effort to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, under which federal agencies are required to identify, review, and release eligible Epstein-related records. The Department has already released multiple batches of documents through its official Epstein disclosures and stated that additional releases will occur if and when further records are cleared for publication.

Federal officials stressed that the discovery of additional documents does not itself imply new criminal findings, but reflects the continued identification of records that may be responsive under transparency requirements. The Department stated that each document must be individually reviewed before any public disclosure can occur.

The Justice Department reaffirmed its position that protecting victims remains a priority throughout the review process, and that no material will be released in a manner that could compromise victim safety or violate existing legal protections.

The Department stated that updates will be provided as the review progresses and as additional materials are cleared for lawful release.
