CHARLESTON, WV — December 4, 2025
The West Virginia Emergency Management Division has issued a new announcement reminding eligible private nonprofits across the state that federal disaster-relief assistance remains available through the U.S. Small Business Administration, however, the filing deadline is approaching on December 19. All details come directly from the West Virginia Emergency Management Division.
The announcement applies to organizations impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding that affected parts of the state from February 15–18, 2025. According to the West Virginia Emergency Management Division, the following counties are covered under the federal declaration: Boone, Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming.
Eligible private nonprofits, specifically those providing non-critical governmental services, such as community centers, food kitchens, homeless shelters, libraries, schools, colleges, and other community-support organizations, may apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans through the Small Business Administration. The West Virginia Emergency Management Division notes that these low-interest loans can be used for working capital needs including payroll, rent, utilities, fixed debts, and other operating expenses.
Importantly, the West Virginia Emergency Management Division confirms that organizations do not need to have sustained physical damage to qualify. The loans are available to help offset financial losses caused by lost revenue or disrupted operations following the February severe-weather events.
The SBA’s application deadline for this disaster declaration is December 19, 2025. The West Virginia Emergency Management Division advises eligible nonprofits to prepare and submit their applications as soon as possible to ensure timely processing and to avoid missing the federal deadline.
For additional information on eligibility, loan terms, or application procedures, organizations may contact the SBA’s disaster assistance team or visit official SBA communication channels referenced by the West Virginia Emergency Management Division.
