Baltimore, Maryland; December 26th, 2025
Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has announced that no criminal charges will be filed in connection with the fatal police-involved shooting that occurred in Baltimore on June 17th, 2025, according to a statement released by the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland.
In the announcement, the Attorney General’s Office stated that a comprehensive and independent review of the incident was conducted in accordance with Maryland law, which requires the Attorney General to investigate all deaths involving law enforcement officers. The review examined evidence gathered from the scene, including officer statements, body-worn camera footage, forensic findings, and witness accounts.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the investigation focused on whether the involved officer’s actions met the legal standard for criminal liability under Maryland law. After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that the facts did not support criminal charges related to the shooting.
The statement explained that the decision not to file charges does not reflect a judgment on the value of human life, but rather the application of the legal standards governing the use of force by law enforcement officers. The Attorney General’s Office emphasized that criminal charges may only be brought when evidence establishes that an officer’s conduct violated the law beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Office of the Attorney General stated that its investigation was conducted independently of the Baltimore Police Department and that the findings were based solely on the evidence collected during the review process. The announcement noted that transparency and accountability remain central to Maryland’s approach to police-involved death investigations.
Attorney General Brown expressed condolences to the family of the individual who died and acknowledged the loss experienced by the community. The statement recognized the gravity of such incidents and the importance of providing clear and timely information regarding investigative outcomes.
The Attorney General’s Office stated that its findings have been communicated to relevant parties and that the investigation into the June 17th incident is now concluded. No further prosecutorial action will be taken based on the evidence reviewed.
